The 30 th Anniversary Celebrations

“OPENING DOORS”
On August 6, 2011 the Center for Nonviolence hosted the first, of four, events which will highlight the Center’s 30th Anniversary in the Fort Wayne community. The event, “Abriendo Puertas” or “Opening Doors,” was a bi-cultural event which highlighted the diversity of the Latin culture. A group of women from Mujeres Unidas, a bi-lingual support group of the Center, prepared homemade Latin food for the guests to enjoy. This family event also included games and activities for children to enjoy, a mariachi musician and dancers from Columbia and Mexico for all to enjoy, as well as time for gathering and relaxing with friends. The event was concluded by an inspiring concert preformed by Lilo Gonzales, a Salvadoran musician, who highlighted his journey to becoming an American citizen throughout his lyrics.
We want to extend our gratitude to St. Patrick’s Parish, Wells Fargo, and Fifth Third Bank for helping making this wonderful and inspiring event possible.
Thank you to everyone who made this event a success!

English Tea House 2011
December 3rd & 4th
This event was a great success! We had a steady stream of folks that came in to see our historic building, partake in the Tea Room, and learn about the Center. We thank "A Perfect Pear" and "Neuhouser Gifts" for their fabulous donations and for all staff and panel members who made this event happen. We were also excited to have local media come and cover the event! Office Manager Sally Miller did a fine job as commentator on behalf of the Center. We raised over $500 for the Center's program and are very happy to be a part of the Woodland Williams Holiday Home Tour! We look forward to next year!
